Thank you for your interest in the H. E. Butt Foundation Outdoor School!

Outdoor School interns are paid to work year-round supporting both the outdoor education programming with schools in the canyon, and adventure recreation activity facilitation within the canyon camping programs. Specifically, Outdoor School interns will attain certifications in lifeguarding, high ropes facilitating, and wilderness first aid.

Outdoor School interns will work closely with the M-F school programming, LLFC weekend retreats, and LLYC/ LLFC summer programming. The intern positions will report directly to the Outdoor School Program Coordinator and Outdoor School Operations Coordinator respectively.

The ideal Outdoor School intern candidate has a passion for outdoor-specific programming with children, and either be certified in lifeguarding and high ropes or willing to become certified in both.

As a part of the Outdoor School Internship you will:

  • Be paid for your work.
  • Support the outdoor education programming by leading and facilitating school groups when they are in the Canyon.
  • Support the adventure recreation programming across programs throughout the entire year.
  • Participate in continuing education related to both outdoor education and adventure recreation through trainings and conferences.
